Yufeng Wu, HUMI 1 (9:30 am) Personal Experiment Don’t believe everything you see and think. It’s really interesting that our brain may show something wrong to us, but we believe that what we see is correct. There are two things I did during last two weeks. I went to the DMV(department of motor vehicles) to take my third driver test.…
As a child, I remember my grandma reading me The Little Engine that Could every time I visited her house. Which may seem slightly odd that, that’s what I enjoyed as a kid. It quickly led to me writing in school. During kindergarten, we were all about writing our own books. For example, I ended that year with 22 books.…
I drove my first BMW when I was 20 years old; my boss at the time let me drive his E39 530i home. It was the most amazing thing I had ever drove and decided right then I must have a BMW once I made enough money to afford one. It was fast (to me), handled like it was on rails, quiet, comfortable, and everything a person who loves to drive could really ask for at the time; truly a “the ultimate driving…
Driver’s Ed is meant to teach young drivers how to act behind the wheel and the ins and outs of driving. However, Driver’s Ed is not meant to be fun by any means. I found this out the hard way when I took Driver’s Ed last summer. It took all of my strength, will-power and endurance to make it through one of the most boring weeks of my entire life. The whole story begins with my older brother.…
I could hear the tapings of Mrs. Paradise’s keyboard, sniffling, the occasional cough, the scratching of pencils and intermittent rustling of paper. These sounds are familiar in every classroom across the country and it is very easy to block out noises and concentrate on the task at hand, unless someone were to have misophonia. I was fine in this setting until my traitorous ears pinpointed my trigger noise out of the room. A person without Misophonia would have just dismissed the noise as nothing more than simple classroom sounds that cannot be prevented. I could not help but be annoyed after I isolated a certain sound out of the room; it was the obnoxiously loud struggling breath of Joe…

We got these packets that were open book, then he read us the answers so we had something to study with for the big test. The class was so boring , even the people who usually were quiet in regular school where talking. It got so noisy, that Mr.tuch had to stop and say, with a angry face, and a monstrous voice, “I don’t know if I even wanna drive with you guys. All of you are acting like children, and I don't feel safe with children driving a vehicle when i'm in the passenger seat. After that moment it got awkwardly quiet in there and Mr.tuch continued teaching us the lesson.…
Road "Are you ready yet?" , My father shouted from downstairs as he warmed up the truck "almost" I shouted from my room upstairs. I was super exicited it was my first time going hunting with my dad. My dad had loaded up the trucks with some gronola bars, two containers of water, some rope, and two burst rifles. "I raced downstairs with excitement, gave my mother a kiss grabbed my bag at the door filled with some hot sandwhiches for the road.…
As we enter adulthood, one thing that all of us inevitable learn to do is drive a vehicle. Whether our parents teach us or we take driver’s ed, driving in itself is an essential ability that we all must know to get by in life. That is why, in this entry, I am going to talk about the time I took Driver’s Ed. Last summer, my brother and I signed up for the Driver’s Ed program in New Hampton. This lasted most of our summer, and having to wake up early on summer mornings living on Pop-Tart breakfasts easily became a chore.…
I first realized I was in foreign territory when I witnessed my boss take a drag of a marijuana joint, take a shot of whiskey and walk out of the bar with a girl he had just met at our show. Suddenly, I was thrust into a world I had never experienced before. I was merely a boy surrounded by middle-aged men, who were seasoned veterans in the field of musical touring. The closest person to myself in age was 10 years my elder. I had not known the hardships I would soon be witnessing while out on the road.…
If you have never taught a little girl how to ride a bike, you might want to check the brakes first. This is going to be about the time I taught my sister how to ride a bike. On a warm summer day in July my sister was constantly asking if I would teach her how to ride a bike. I finally I decided to go outside and teach her how to ride her bike. She started off with teaching her how to balance.…
I’m 17 and I have no idea what I want to do with my life; I thought to myself as I looked at a list of colleges near Detroit, Michigan. I slammed the book shut and grabbed my backpack and returned the book to its shelf. Enough college searching for one day, though I knew my mother was only going to nag me about it when I went home. I walked out of the high school with pep in my step until I remembered what I had to drive. I walked up to my ’72 blue Skylark and said a silent prayer to myself that I would at least make it home today with this sad excuse for a car.…
There was always a simple dream, and hope that made twinges of excitement flow through my veins, the dream was to own my first car. The waiting was unbelievable, I could not imagine the day my dreams would come to pass, yet I think of it daily. Nothing would have convinced me to go apart from acquiring my first car. once I had it, I could have an opportunity to do what I love most, especially going on sightseeing at my own convenient time, and many exciting places I have heard and read from newsprints, and on TVs. Getting my driver’s license was just part of the battle, but my biggest challenge was raising the money to acquire the car.…
When most teenagers get to the age when they can finally drive they usually feel ecstatic. Being able to drive has a sense of feeling independent and mature. But for me, all I felt was fear and dread. After completing Drivers Ed and obtaining my learner's permit from the DMV, it was finally time for my first driving lesson. I was nonstop googling how to prepare and what to expect but everything I read only added to my nerves.…
Being part of the generation who grew up watching Fast and the Furious films has always made me want to drive a car. At that time I knew I still had a while before I could drive, but any chance I got to be in the driver seat I would. My first time I ever got behind the wheel was right after I watch the fast and the furious in 2001. It was during the summer, my mom was washing her car and according to her “I accidently locked myself inside and somehow I managed to turn the car on and started backing up the car.” My mom was so scared she started yelling “put the car on park” “put the car on park” but I had no clue what she meant.…
