Have you ever stopped caring so much that whatever happens, happens? I remember the time I had gotten in trouble by my mom because I had walked home from school. It was a gloomy day from it being so cloudy and cold. I was talked into walking home during school by friends whom, at the time didn't care about school as much as I did, cared nothing of school. I didn’t like it, but then again I started not to care either.…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…
Since a young age, I have played soccer. I play to have fun and win. From being on a recreational team with all my elementary school friends to playing on an elite club team with people from all over the state, has played a large role in who I am today. I play club for Sporting Blue Valley Bayern Munich 97/98, having recently tried out for them last summer, and for my high school's varsity team, Blue Valley North. For both teams, I am the captain.…
Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator. What is the first thought that comes to you? I decided to interview a Fitness and Aerobic Program Coordinator even though I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I did a phone interview with Erica E. Hirsch who works under DMC at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. I learned many things from her and I also got out of my comfort zone.…
Everyone knows the YMCA song, but everyone doesn’t have the same connection to it that I do. This building never contained one life changing event for me, but it has been a pivotal place in my life. A place I’ve referred to as home many times, the YMCA has shaped who I am as a man. This pivotal spot is where I suffered my first traumatic injury, changing how I do things for the rest of my life; but also was the place I went to when coping with family incidents. This institution, in particular the basketball gym, helped me find myself, changing my life forever.…
Nothing in life goes as planned. I was a sophomore in high school and there were several things that I was sure would happen to me. Obtaining a spot on the junior varsity soccer team was one of them. What I did not know, though, was that it was not going to be as simple as I believed. Unfortunately, I was not able to acquire a spot on the team.…
I was four years old when I started playing soccer, and at ten I knew I wanted to play in college. Soccer has been a huge part of my life for twelve years now, growing up I had always played defense and loved it. When eighth grade came around, my travel team needed a goalie, I decided to take one for the team and become our goalie for that season instead of playing my usual position. Playing goalie was never my first choice, but I knew that I had to do it if I wanted to play soccer that season, so I asked my brother to train me to become a goalie for that season. As it turned out, I wasn’t terrible at goalie and my dad suggested I switch from defense to goalie.…
Many times I have come to find that success is hard to obtain, and failure is inevitable. Soccer has taught me many lessons, from working hard to never giving up. There have been many instances when failure was the only option but I overcame it.…
Happiness is something that is being sought by everyone. Some people would do some crazy things in an effort to be happy. However, it may not be too difficult to be happy if you know that you have the choice to be happy. Yes, it may sounds a little unbelievable, but it’s true.…
Decision making. Do you actually know what this means? Do we as the teenagers of New Zealand, actually know what this means for us? The effects of our decisions? Both now and in the future?…
Welcome to the friend zone. I hope you enjoy your stay. I am being facetious, of course. I hope you have not enjoyed being in the friend zone. It sucks.…
My personal commitment was with my friend Stacy. She has been my friend since my freshman year in college, but through the years we have slowly distanced ourselves from each other due to different classes and busy schedules. We were as close as sisters and now, in our last semester as juniors, have not seen each other since sophomore year. We occasionally text each other 3 or 4 times a month, which is different from 3 or 4 times a week like we did our first year of college. My commitment was to change my attitude from being distant and busy, to one that was cheerful and supportive.…
Happiness What is happiness? There can be many different definitions of the word happiness. My definition of happiness is when you have a good emotion towards something. To be happy you need to work hard to get to where you want to be.…
Happiness Is a Choice Happiness is something everyone strives to acquire. It can last five minutes or it can last for many years, and true happiness is not something everyone gets to experience in their lifetimes. However, whether happiness was acquired or not is completely up to the person. Here are three major proofs that happiness is a choice and not something out of our personal control. First of all, one must not be a pessimist.…
