In Costa Rica, I was a foreigner for the first time in my life, and I learned that it is scary to be an outsider. I knew a limited amount of Spanish so I felt overwhelmed when I had to speak to any of the natives. I gained empathy for everyone who has the courage to visit another country. I learned that it is really important to find locals who are helpful and kind, since it is super easy to get lost in a foreign country, especially when you can’t read any of the signs. It felt empowering to be able to find my way through a country that was completely new to me. In conclusion, my trip to Costa Rica ended up being fun and educational. I learned a little about empathy and a little about tropical vegetation and wild life.
