I looked at my mom and she knew exactly what was going through my head, “Who is this guy?” Ever since I saw him on the screen, my mom would speak to him every day. One day after school, I came home, and my mom was packing up. I started panicking, thinking she’s leaving me again. Little did I know, we were all leaving. My mom said, “We are moving to a better home.” I started wondering, what home could be better than the home I grew up in? My mom sat down with me and explained why we had to leave. I asked her, why can’t he just come? She explained to me why my father can’t come. My dad was eighteen-years-old when he left his family and education in order to support his family. His father was having heart problems and due to him being the oldest child, he had to sacrifice. Later that night, I couldn’t sleep due to the question that was constantly haunting me; “Where would the future take me next?” I woke up the next morning feeling very sad. I was curious to know what the future is holding for me, but at the same time, I had loved my family in Amman. It was very hard to leave them. It was like a knife constantly stabbing me in the back.
