In One Hundred Years of Solitude, Jose Arcadio Buendia and Ursula get married and decides to wear a chastity belt to prevent her from having intercourse with Jose. His dream is to be with her fully and when Prudecio Aguilar taunts Jose about their virginity, he gets very defensive and ends up fighting him in aggravation, ultimately killing Prudecio. Jose believed that getting made fun of for not being sexually active made “it was necessary to point” (Marquez 195). This demonstrates how he indeed does have an anger issue which provoked him and made him kill his friend because of his dream to marry Ursula.
