Some countries test more animals than others due to the amount of drug or product that they have. The economist says that, “Britain conducts a surprising number of experiments on animals: some 3m a year. America appears to use fewer animals—just 1.1m a year, according to official statistics” not including mice or rats. The U.S does use less animals but they don’t count mice and rats as animals because there is an abundance of them. Britain is smaller than the U.S and tests on possibly more animals which is majority concerning. Large amounts of animals are required to test a variety of products. About 4.5 thousand beauty and personal-care products have been introduced in the last year. Liza Lin from Bloomberg says that, “The Mintel and PETA estimates would translate into more than 300,000 animals used in tests over the past year.” The 300,000 animals are tested on for the safety of humans.
