Iridia Medical is excited to be teaming up with London Drugs for the second annual Save a Life Campaign. We are giving the public a chance to test their CPR skills and learn how to apply an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). We will also be bringing a SmartMan with us, so you can get real-time, visual, and objective feedback on your CPR compressions and ventilations. With your help, our goal is to raise awareness for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and the steps involved in responding to one.
The Impact
40,000 cardiac arrests happen annually in Canada – that’s one every 13 minutes. While it’s estimated that only 5% of Canadians survive a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, this probability can be tipped with growing awareness of the importance of CPR and AED. London Drugs continues to be a natural partner for our awareness campaigns, as they are a pioneer when it comes to implementing a workplace AED program. As the first major retailer in Canada to put AEDs into all their stores, they have also trained over 1,000 employees in CPR and the use of an AED.
