Biotechnology is one of tomorrow’s tools in our hands today. Slowing its acceptance is a luxury our hungry world cannot afford. Genetic engineering is the process of manually adding new DNA to an organism. The goal is to add one or more new traits that are not already found in that organism. One example would be engineering plants so crops can act as natural pesticides to some plants. The main idea behind this concept is that a DNA strand is composed of small segments called Genes. Each Gene holds instructions for how to produce a single protein, which is what creates our cell, regulates our cell, and controls what reacts in our cells. Once one changes the DNA, almost anything can happen.
Although this technology is powerful, it has not yet been used properly.
