GLOBAL WARMING
PERSUADE PREPARATION OUTLINE
Specific purpose: To persuade the audience that global warming is a very serious problem and we need to solve it.
Thesis statement: I will discuss the problem of global warming, what causes the problems of global warming, and what we can do to reduce the outcome of global warming.
INTRODUCTION
I. ATTENTION GRABBER: What do you think about these pictures? The first one is talking about the emission released from industrial factories. The second one shows a picture about the green and clean world. So where do you want to live ?
II. TOPIC/ RELEVANCE: Global warming is an increase in the earth‘s average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes …show more content…
CREDIBILITY : I did an assignment about two different thoughts between two environmentalist : Al Gore and Botkins. Al Gore, with the article “The time to act is now”, informed to the reader how bad global warming is and alerted them the need to react now . Botkins with the article “Global Warming Delusions” said that global warming is not a very serious problem and we don’t need to waste money on this problem . I have looked for much research to answer the question by myself as to whether global warming impacts seriously on our life or not and what we can do to protect our living environment. That’s why today I am very interested to share with you some basic information about global warming.
IV. CENTRAL IDEA: I am going to start with the problems of global warming, what causes the problems of global warming, and what we can do to reduce the outcome of global …show more content…
Some regions of the world have warmed by more than twice this amount.
The article “Effect of Global Warming.Signs are Everywhere” posted on National Geographic gives some prediction if warmer weather happens for a long time, it will lead to many serious effects in our environment such as:
• Hurricanes and other storms are likely to become stronger
• Floods and droughts will become more common
• Some disease will spread , such as malaria carried by mosquitoes
• The ecosystem will change, some species will move farther north or become more successful; other species will not be able to adapt and could become extinct. 2. POLAR ICE CAPS MELTING
According to NASA, due to melting ice , the sea levels have risen by 0.12 inches (3.17 millimeters) per year.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimates that sea levels will raise between 0.18 and 0.59 meters (0.59 to 1.9 feet) by 2099 as warming sea water expands and mountain and polar glaciers melt.
TRANSITION: After talking about some problems of global warming mentioned above, I will discuss about some main factors causes global
