A business magnate, Mr. Murthy served as the Director of Infosys Ltd. In 2000 where he was fired from the company 2 years later. In 2003, Mr. Murthy became the Chief Executive Officer of iGate Corporation where he became the President in 2006 & later got re-elected in 2010. The board of iGate removed Mr. Murthy as President in May 2013 in view of an ongoing investigation against Phaneesh. An alum of prestigious institution such as the Indian Institute of Ahmedabad (IIM A) & the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M), Mr. Murthy has been a prominent name in the corporate world who has been linked to sexual harassment cases.
Case 1: Reka v/s Phaneesh & Infosys
The case revolves around the sexual harassment charges & the unlawful termination made by an employee against Infosys during 2001-03. The case culminated with an out of court settlement made between the plaintiff Reka Maximovitch & Infosys. This case also saw the eviction of Phaneesh Murthy from the Infosys. Also, Infosys developed measures in its company policy in order to avoid any such occurrence in the future.
