This leaves the student to do most of their learning outside of class. For a student to fully grasp a new concept on his own, he will have to use some critical thinking. In Calculus Mr. Cerny Gave use some great insight on how to maximize this valuable skill. He told the class that the best way to pass his class was to work together. He told the class that all of our critical thinking skill put together could solve and problem that he would assign us. Calculus is not the only class that this skill has come up in. In the Engineering Seminar it has been a topic of discussion for many class periods. In That class the student came to the conclusion that critical thinking is the single most important skill that we possess. People use it every day and in almost every situation. In today 's age where the presumably private becomes public, there is always an eye watching. So how a person acts when they think no one is watching speaks more to their character than any action the perform while a crowd is present. This fact is prevalent in every class in a university. The professor is not there to baby sit the students, in fact the students are expected to be very independent people and learner. It is completely up to the student to be studying when no one is telling them to, and to be learning when it is not class time. This will be expected even more when these students become employees.
