The fruit of the spirit is the motivated by love and is shown by a person’s nature and actions. The virtues that are gifted through the Holy Spirit according to Galatians 5:22-23, are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self control. These are needed in order for others to be able to see that the person has the attributes of a Christian, in their daily lives. This is the world’s sign that the person has reached spiritual maturity. As Paul stated in Corinthians, “that all might know the things that are freely given to us of God” (Towns 2008, pp 303).
