The eyes can lie, they may miss things that are truly there or make things appear from nothing. Despite these mistakes we trust our vision completely, depending on it to determine the truth. Race, an important ‘truth’ in the 1920’s is often determined by sight, and can be quite fickle. People look for numerous traits that a person has to determine their race; traits that can easily be hidden, or have no truth to them at all, like ones finger nails, palms, ears, teeth or obviously skin colour (Larsen 8). Axel a curious boy nervous to go on a journey with Professor Lidenbrock, discovers a coded note written in what they call runic script. To begin, mob mentality refers “to unique behavioral characteristics that emerge when people are in large groups” (Smith). Mob mentality is also considered “the sense of confusion or even panic that can exist in a large group” (Smith). This idea can be shown in current examples such as the instance that many people will go to an already-crowded restaurant for the reason that they figure the restaurant must be serving good food, or it would not be nearly as busy (Smith). Mob mentality is a dangerous characteristic of a person’s attitude. When in a group people often experience “deindividuation, or a loss of self-awareness” causing “the provocation of behaviors that a person would not typically engage in if alone” (Avant). These behaviors can include poor decision making processes and engaging in the defamation of one’s character. In Beethoven’s string quartet Op. 18 No. 4, there is the implication that the first movement sonata form has indeed been emancipated from the looming tyranny of the minor key and that the movement will, in fact, end in C major as opposed to C minor. In measure 194, the ESC is presented as a strong C major chord which should indicate the emancipation of the movement; however, this is not the case. As the closing material quickly continues, E-flats are reintroduced signaling that the outcome of the struggle between major and minor has not yet been decided. Over the course of my seven years teaching high school social studies, I have had the opportunity to learn about the evolving roles and responsibilities of a school administrator from three amazing principals. Henry Kluttz, Kelly Withers, and Angelo DelliSanti have been excellent models for anyone aspiring to be an administrator. Having recently started my own journey towards this leadership role, my knowledge of what makes a great principal has grown exponentially. Having the opportunity to interview a pair of veteran elementary school principals through this assignment has been an eye-opening experience.
