The debate over pornography and its relationship to sexual aggression has been an outrage topic in society. Throughout the country, researchers attempted to find the potential effect which pornographic have on human behavior. However, after many reviews through some different perspectives, researchers failed to prove that pornography has any significant influence on sexual aggression. Some believe that this sexual representation in the media is a form of art and advertisement, while some believe that it is a particular type of human behavior and simple acts of nudity as pornographic. The Australian Joint Select Committee defined a purpose of pornography as for sexual arousal not as a triggered to develop sexual aggression. On the other hands, Feminist continued to describe porn as gender discrimination and that it is a threat to our social system. The current politics view on the equality between the sexes issue does not agree that pornography is an actual cause of sexual discernment or crime such as rape. Research collected evidence from many studies to investigate the relationship between pornography and its harmful effect on human behavior and attitude.
Method
The three primary source of proof includes criminal statistics, use of pornography by sex offenders, and laboratory experiments and studies.
The first evidence is a Criminal statistic, which examined the pattern of pornography consumption and the distribution of rape and sexual assault. Studies used the longitudinal analyses to observe the changes in the use of pornography over time and cross-sectional studies to compare the consumption of pornographic with the rate of rape victims. Other factors that believe to have an impact on sexual aggression are social and cultural influences, a person’s attitude toward sexuality, family psychopathology, and individual experiences. Studies suggested that the interaction between one or more of these variables may lead to a harmful out; however, a single experience cannot result in adverse behavior. Research who studies relevant factors in behavior determination, reveals that behavior disturbance came from within and not from external factors; such as pornography. Studies also illustrate sexual offenders are likely to be diagnosed with personality problems, yet they also believe that pornographic play roles as their stimulator or trigger. The only relationship connection pornography with sexual offenders is their reaction to porn. Pornography, however, does not cause people to develop sexual aggression or disturbance
