the career field i’m researching is the professional musician. musicians have been around since the beginning of time and will be here when time is no more. the reason i am studying the career of professional musician is because I myself am already a musician by choice and by passion. By researching this career field I hope to gain valuable insight into what it takes to be a professional musician. there are approximately “167,400 people in this job as said in 2012, and is projected to grow three percent from 2014 to 2024” (Musician 3). Jobs in this career are usually found in larger cities because of record company locations.

a musician's personality should be open to a wide variety of music modes and styles. a musician's experience should be composed of training in many different styles and types of music and also be trained to play their instrument to the best of their ability. Professional musicians should have a natural passion and a God given ability to play and perform with their instruments. Professional musicians do not have to have a formal education from a college or university, however a formal education is recommended. Dana Frick explained to me that she would “strongly recommend having a degree for music because it gives you a greater knowledge and understanding of your trade…” (Frick 1).
