In the 1960’s civil rights were a big issue. This was the decade in which Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the rights of African Americans and dark skinned individuals. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became the figurehead of the movement to desegregate schools, restaurants, theaters, etc. Not only this, but women’s rights were being fought for as well.It’s quite apparent that civil rights were a huge deal back then.
Not only African Americans were oppressed, but women were as well.
