The CT-Scan is a medical imaging procedure that uses data from digital technology (computer) to combine several combinations of X-ray images. These images are taken from different angles to give a detailed cross sectional picture and use digital geometry processing to generate a 3-dimensional (3D) image of specific areas of structures inside a human’s body.
CT- Scan is used to assist a diagnosis and early detection of disease. It is a non-invasive and painless procedure. It uses ionizing radiation.

In some of the countries, physicians get commission for every CT-scan which is paid by the CT-scan laboratory. These practices lead the physician to order for unnecessary CT- scans. Also, the fear of lawsuits makes the physician to be over cautious and order scan where it may not be required
Why CT- scan
CT Scan is the fastest and most accurate tool for all diseases that require the physician to “see” from inside – a 3D image of organ
CT Scans have been extensively used in case of cancer patients – starting from early detection of the disease, identify the area where the disease has started to grow (primary staging), get to know the staging of the cancer, check which treatment would be the best for the patient, whether the treatment is working, check whether surgery can be done to remove the cancer, and check whether the cancer has recurred
There are many more applications of CT Scan such as to check condition of trauma patients arriving after an accident, detection and analysis of cardiovascular disease, spinal problems, etc
