H.A.L.T on Friday
This is a psychoeducational group providing positive interactions based on H.A.L.T. The purpose is to remedy issues based on H.A.L.T (hungry, angry, lonely, tired) while providing education about the importance of meeting these needs.
Describe the target audience to whom the group will be open. Who is this group aimed at? Who will be appropriate for your group and who will not? List the main purposes for the group.
The main purpose of the group is to provide interaction with each other allowing for support from other members. It will involve social interaction, snacks and a chance to discuss current issues they are experiencing in daily life as well as ways to cope with them. The value in this is addressing things that can negatively impact an individual with dual-diagnosis.
It will serve to:
1. Provide snacks for those who may be lacking in meeting their daily needs
2. Allow for group members to deal with anger or daily stressors in a safe environment
3. Provide social interactions and an opportunity to develop a support network
4. Allow group members to relax and decompress from the stress and exhaustion of daily life

What cultural, ethnic and gender issues need to be considered for your group?
The dual-diagnosis psychoeducational group formation will take every opportunity to respect cultural, ethnic, and gender issues.
A. The advertisement and screening process will limit the group to English speaking clients, but will consider additional group for Spanish speaking clients if there is a demand.
B. The groups will operate two (2) gender specific groups. The male and female groups will be separated for consideration of sensitive issues such as past abuse and trauma that may arise.
