Clearly understanding these various sectors that make up the public health field will improve my ability to steer my studies on a distinct path that will move me closer to defining my career goals.
Concern for Public Health is paramount to society and improving the quality of life and life expectancy for all citizens. According to the CDC (2017), its important to attack chronic disease issues on both an individual level and population level. “To optimize public health’s efficiency and effectiveness, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends coordinating chronic disease prevention efforts in four key domains Epidemiology and surveillance, Environmental approaches, Health care system interventions, Community programs linked to clinical services to improve and sustain management of chronic conditions.” This shows the importnace of public health professionals working collectively to bring about programs that will enlighten communities and positively impact health. A Time magazine article by Alexandra Sifferlin (2016) takes a close look at public health posters created in the 1930’s and this review is a nod to how seriously public health issues were regarded in the past by creating these advertising reminders to take good care. Hopefully as we continue to move forward in the future we will acknowledge the need for all health care professionals to
