Queen Elizabeth’s speech was powerful because of the way she used imagery, diction, and ethos to achieve her purpose of motivating her troops. Queen Elizabeth used imagery when she said, “that you have deserved rewards and crowns.” This helped achieve her purpose of motivating her troops by showing them what they could receive if they won the war. This particular use of imagery helped paint a picture of the fame they could obtain if they won which would motivate her troops to defeat the powerful army and they would be able to obtain the rewards and crowns. Queen Elizabeth’s purpose was achieved by showing her troops what they life could be if they won the war which would give them a reason to fight.
