The project consists of a module that is being used for image processing. This is done by employing a Raspberry Pi development board and the convex hull method. The power source is a 230 V AC supply which is being converted to 12 V AC and then to DC using a rectifier circuit. This is powering the relay circuit that is being employed. A robotic arm with 2 active motors has been used to demonstrate the plenty applications that this technology could be used for.
The Raspberry Pi was adopted as the environment for the above project because of its sheer flexibility and adaptability. The Python environment used involved use of the IDLE interpreter for testing purposes. The Open CV library used enables the user to include …show more content…
It includes 4 relays and these relays drive and direct accordingly to the motors that actuate the arm system. Implementation of such a system allows us to test and make sure that the output directed directly after being sensed from the camera is taken in properly and efficiently.
The robotic arm used in this module has been enabled by a single degree of freedom and also has pincers attached to the end by a gear system. This was made by using 3ds Max as the simulation software.

2.2 MODULES OF THE PROJECT
This project consists of a transformer as the power supply, a development board (That being the Raspberry Pi), the relay circuit, the robotic arm and the webcam.
Each of these having dedicated applications of their own. The modules have been explained in detail below.

2.2.1 Power Supply
A transformer is used for this purpose. This is used to step-down from 230V to 12V with a maximum of 1A current. 12 V output of the step-down transformer is the RMS value and its peak value is given by the product of the square root of the two with RMS value which is approximately …show more content…
Regulator IC units consist of the circuitry for overload protection, comparator amplifier, control device, and reference source. ICs provide regulation of two sorts; a fixed positive voltage, a fixed negative voltage. The regulators can be chosen from a wide range for operation for a wide range of load currents.
A fixed three-terminal voltage regulator is to have an unregulated DC input voltage applied to one input terminal, a regulated dc output voltage from a second terminal and the third terminal is to be connected to ground. The series 78 regulators provide fixed positive regulated voltages in a range varying from 5 to 24 volts. Similarly, the series 79 regulators provide fixed negative regulated voltages in a range varying from 5 to 24 volts.
The reason why we use this relay is because the relay driver uln2003 IC is a high voltage and current Darlington array IC, it comprises of 7-open collector Darlington pairs with common emitters. The problem is that it's difficult to make an active low input without a source of power to turn the device off when the input is high or open circuit. The ULN20xx series are basically Darlington arrays so they need base current to turn them on, working the other way around would require a current source to turn them off and there isn't one available without increasing the package
