Friar Laurence was a close person to Romeo during the story, even though he was really close he was the main reason of his life and Juliet's life. After Romeo first meets Juliet he goes straight to Friar Laurence after with his friends. When Romeo goes to Friar Laurence he tells him "with Rosaline, my ghostly father?no; I have forgot that name, and that name's woe" (2.3.45-46). After Romeo tells Friar Laurence this he says he wants to marry Juliet even though they are very young, and Friar Laurence agrees that they should marry and will help them. First Romeo and Juliet were trying really hard to get married and Friar Laurence should have known if he gets them married there will be a lot of controversy if they did get married. Friar Laurence has a speech as he gets them married, after he says his "Romeo shall thank thee, daughter, for both us both", he pretty much thinks there marriage will be successful and will last even thought all this horrible things are happening (2.6.22). In the end if Friar Laurence never helped them get married it would have prevented a lot of bad events happening which leads to the death of both Romeo and
