The best Islamic clothing is the abaya, which is a robe that covers a women’s body mainly composed of black cloth. Islam has set minimum standards for personal modesty, which are reflected in the various styles of clothing worn among Muslims. While such standards may seem outdated or conservative to some people, Muslims view these values of public behavior as timeless.

There are multiple reasons why Muslim women wear abayas. The main reason for wearing the Abaya in the Gulf is to observe modesty and as a protection from the harsh desert environment. By wearing such a loose garment, the women protected their clothes from the effects of the sun and sand blown around. Another reason is because they believe God has made it an obligation for believing women. In Chapter 33 known as al-Ahzab, verse 59, Allah gives the following command to Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) “O Prophet! Say to your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers that: they should let down upon themselves their jalabib.” (The Noble Qur'an, n.d). Jalabib is the plural of jilbab , which means a loose outer garment. This means that the Islamic dress code for women does not only consist of a scarf that covers the head, the neck and the bosom; it also includes the overall dress that should be long and loose. In the Quran, God specifically addresses women to lower their gaze, dress modestly and draw their veils over their bodies. The abaya empowers women to wear something basic that suits them and to dress modestly. Loyal Muslims follow the teachings given in the holy book. In the Quran, it says that women must dress modestly and not to be too show-offish. It's how they are advised to dress by God and part of their ordinary regular life. …show more content…

Nowadays, abayas are becoming more fashionable and it’s so attractive. This is destroying the uses of abaya because according to what abaya stands for in Islam religion, it is used to cover our bodies, not attract the other gender. The most straight full country that follows their rules of abaya is in Saudi Arabia. The “Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice" ministry mission is to applicate the laws of Islamic aberrance in markets and other public places, to prevent the lack of illegal actions that could happen such as harassment which shows a bad respect to the Islamic
