One example is Planet Ark, an Australian not for profit organisation dedicated to helping people and business reduce their impact on the environment. To to this they run many campaigns and work in tandem with businesses and governments to help change peoples behaviour and attitude towards the environment. An extremely useful website created by Planet Ark is recyclingnearyou.com.au which lets people know what items can be recycled and where to take them in their local area. Looking through the site there were many items I had not realised could be recycled such as corks, reading glasses, mattresses, medicines, x-ray films and polystyrene. Taking the items is colloquially know as “wombbling” so named after the characters 1970s British children’s television program.
