Though our actual presentation ran a little too long, the practice presentations were very productive, smooth, and ran for only about 40-50 minutes. I feel the main reason that presentation ran overly long was our failure to factor in the chances of technical problems with the Apple demonstrations and the varied effects that nerves have on speaking times. Additionally, we wanted to increase our speaking times in the event our guest speaker didn’t show up. Consequently, we ended up adding more slides and material than necessary, which mostly appeared in the third part of the presentation that wasn’t reached. At the start of the project, I created a Google Doc for the project outline and wrote the topic headers for it. In terms of outside research, I was the one who researched, found, and contacted Professor Susan Epstein from Hunter College to speak. This turned into a tedious process that resulted in about 20 emails being sent back and forth between her and I. Despite the difficulties I had in getting definitive answers from her, I was fortunately able to get her to come in to speak. Additionally, I was the one who created the Google Slides document, which the other members and I would populate with our slides. I also organized the Sunday meeting at Baruch and booked our study room in the library. At this meeting, I suggested the idea of doing a Siri demonstration as a crowd engagement tool and also suggested having another meeting via Google Hangout on the Monday before the presentation. I thought it would be a prudent idea to conduct another run-through the day before the presentation. On the day of the presentation, I was the one who printed the slides that would be submitted to you. Additionally, I spent four days rehearsing my performance portion of the presentation and believe I did fairly well.
