Many of the cultures we learned about are dated back thousands of years ago but regardless of how long ago their existence was their culture helps us understand how the world we live in today has been influenced by their belief system throughout the course of history. In chapter 1 we are able to see the Babylonian’s law system in which is stated “A wife’s purpose involved providing her husband with legitimate sons and heirs. Adultery (by a wife) carried a penalty of drowning for both wife and paramour. Man could have “secondary” or “temporary” wives …” Although this seems really unfair this ideology still exists across the world in which a man has the right to have many wives without punishment and the women has no such right. The women’s only job in many cultures consists of taking care of her husband providing him with kids. If I had not been enrolled in this class I would have not been able to learn how this all began or how back into time did this begin to happen. Dance also played a big role in several cultures and to this date this is still true in Chapter 2 we were able to learn that the ancient Greeks believed that “The Gods invented dancing, and they believed that the Gods offered this gift to some select mortals.” In the ancient Greeks belief system dancing played a big role because when they dance they felt it was a gift from God, although with all due respect we do not know if this is in fact true but the ancient Greeks believed that and that shows the reader how important and meaningful dancing was too them. To this date dancing plays a big role in several cultures, dancing across the world does not look the same. Each culture has their own way of dancing and many have very traditional forms of dance, some cultures do it for fun and many cultures still dance to bring respect to their Gods. Many forms of fine arts have helped
