I would like to discuss the incredible experience I’ve had interning at Compton & Lee, CPA’s in Tallahassee, Florida. I have had the opportunity to delve into the professional accounting field while still in school, which has been a valuable lesson to balance school and work life. I have learned how to proficiently use QuickBooks, how to reconcile bank statements, and how to file tax returns. My customer service skills have improved greatly over the course of my internship, which I feel is a very valuable skill to possess. It has been amazing to see the application of topics taught in my classes to transfer into my internship. The culture of the company is excellent, and I look forward to spending more time learning about the professional accounting field as my internship continues.

I’m hoping to move out to Seattle after graduation and pursue a career with a Big 4 Accounting Firm. I am interviewing with many of the firms for a Summer Leadership Program this summer, and hope that the program will lead to another internship after graduation. I had spoken to my bosses about this timeline prior to the internship, so they were understanding and excited to help me learn more about the field in a hands-on internship. I would highly recommend this internship to other students. The hours are very flexible and the culture is great. It has been a great experience overall, and I feel as though I have learned a lot about the tax field. I’m so excited to see what my future may hold, and I will always look back onto my internship at Compton & Lee
