1.1 The difference between punishment and rehabilitation.
A punishment is something given to someone for breaking the law, its purpose is to punish the individual (or group of individuals) for their wrong doing against the Queen (where a criminal action has been taken against them – case name e.g. R v Smith, where R stands for Regina- Queen in Latin). The punishment is intended to deter the individual from reoffending and deter others from committing similar crimes.
Rehabilitation aims to make the individual a better person after leaving/ finishing the treatment, it does this by educating them that what they did was wrong and what the correct behaviour should be. Rehabilitation
