Prophets and other leaders to look over the Church. Unfortunately the adversary is cun- ning, and tries his best to establish his power right along side God’s. Throughout the
history of the Earth, antichrists and other enemies of our Father in Heaven have
emerged in an attempt to lead away the saints, and bring their souls unto destruction.
The Bible contains many accounts of the efforts these enemies have produced, but the
Book of Mormon sheds further light on the subject, and will help the people in these lat- ter days to be prepared to face such opposition. Through studying the accounts of

People who lead away the saints often use
flattery, power of speech and knowledge as means to validate their words. Since they
do not have the power of the Spirit, they must resort to these tactics of men in order to
convince. People who teach against the things of God often have much evidence they
claim is true, and will resort to intellect to prove their point. The power of speech can
also be abused, as men use it as a way to sound knowledgable or powerful. Diligence is
characteristic of all the antichrists. They work hard every day to lead people away from
truth (Jacob 7:3). The Devil is hard working, and it would make sense that his servants
would be also. The enemies of God will be trying their hardest to further their influence.
In addition to their hard work ethics, we learn from the account of Nehor that these kind
of men often wear costly and flashy apparel. Clothes are a sign of wealth, achievement
and status. By wearing costly apparel, men can appear to be authentic and thus aid to
their convincing power (Alma 1:6). Nehor also showed us that enemies to God will re- sort to violence, be it physical, verbal or emotional. Fear and intimidation is a way the
