Jesus was beginning His messianic ministry and His kingdom would oppose that of the devil and thus a great conflict would occur. Jesus the sinless son of God and to be tempted brings to light two passages: James 1:14, “but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed”, and Hebrews 4:15, “for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like we are yet without sin”. It appears that for Jesus to prove that He was sinless He had to face temptations. Jesus had a real human nature and a divine nature. The temptation of this human nature would prove His divine nature. As the first Adam sinned in the garden, the second Adam would be sinless in the face of temptation. The first Adam plunged all of mankind into a sinful nature and condemnation while the second Adam’s sinless sacrifice would redeem
