The film is nearly all in Spanish--save for the a few parts that are in English or French-- with English subtitles. There is a great appreciation for this particular aspect of the film for listening to the story in it’s natural language instead of an accented English is much more enjoyable than losing meanings of the words in translation. The words, while they are in fact Spanish, they are Cuban by nature. While this movie was produced in Spain, this film is meant to be Cuban, and the directors successfully do that by having the voice-over actors speak with the Cuban accent, instead of the Spanish one. The script utilizes slang, illustrates the proper mannerisms and attitudes Cubans that was common during that time period.
