Based on my observation, I believe Mrs. Laura was the expertise and Mrs. Jan was the novice. Mrs. Laura was able to think in a larger, more meaningful pattern. When it came to teaching reading, Mrs. Laura was able to take the book and create different activities for the children to learn. She made it fun for the children to learn. When she created the different activities, she was able to target different goals such as spelling.…

We have a child at nursery that has a disability where she has no feeling or muscles in her stomach down to her legs she cannot walk she bum shuffles she comes to the nursery 5 days a week and she does her exercises every day. we have adapted the nursery setting to her needs such as the sand and water tray are on the stands when she is in the room she has a special chair which supports her back the activities are all set down to her level so she doesn’t miss out on anything she cannot be left alone on this chair because if she is she is likely to fall down through the middle this helps support her. We have a support worker who works in the room to help with the child’s development she works alongside the child every day. We have many professionals who work alongside the child such as physiotherapy who explains the exercises we need to do with her here, also the health workers who come out every term to check on her development and to see what she is like in the setting, senco also work alongside her to get the panel to agree for more support for the child, we have practitioners who are all involved in the child’s development. We have regular updates from the child’s parents who constantly show us videos and pictures of how well she is doing at home how far she has come since she first…
Explain why it is important to ensure children and young people are protected from harm within the work setting. Everyone in a school environment plays their part in ensuring that children and young people are protected from harm and every child has the right to feel and be safe in their learning environment. Parent/carers entrust their children to the care of a school and should leave their children feeling confident that they are with competent adults who will keep their children safe and protected from harm.…
It is important to take a balanced approach to risk management because children need an environment which is safe, but also challenging. Almost every activity that we do, has a risk attached to it, and children need to learn how to deal with this. Having an accident helps children to learn, and develop, for example, when babies learn to walk, they’re bound to fall over, and bump into things, which helps them to adapt the way the walk, so that they can learn from what they’ve experienced. It is trial and error when it comes to children’s development, and also, if they be doing something right, but aren’t quite there yet, so they’re going to need to be persistant. 2.…
at each station to assist any children if needed. The amount of space available is very important in keeping children safe, if too many activities are crammed into one space it could be dangerous and the risk of accidents may increase. First aiders should be available to ensure all children are kept as safe as possible and to ensure that any children who are injured get the assistance they require as soon as possible in a safe, calm and controlled way. Activity Two (2): The Age of the Children Participating:…

For this rotation I taught the Real Care Baby lesson. IN this lesson the students watched a visual video that gave them an overview of what the Real Care Baby is all about. Then they got pulled out in groups to complete the “one Minute” baby challenge. This challenge required the students to stop the baby from crying in one minute. This required following directions, collaboration, completion of the challenge, and critical thinking skills.…
Inevitably this means that they will need to take some risks, and most activities will involve some element of danger. If children's experiences are limited due to adults' anxieties, it is likely that they will find it difficult to assess and manage risk when they become adults. A balanced approach to risk management involves: Taking into account the young person's age, needs and abilities Avoiding excessive risk taking…

In “Breaking Through Uncertainty-Welcoming Adversity” by Jim Mccormick, the biggest risk-taking in the story is the initial act of skydiving. The next big risk in that story is the act of releasing one parachute for another. As said in paragraph 14 we see that ”The wrong order could cause my reserve parachute to deploy into my spinning main parachute which would result in an incurable entanglement” which makes the risk of making a bad mistake very costly; death. In the other story “Neighbours” by Lien Chao, there isn’t a significant amount of the typical risk-taking. Sally does take risks in making new friends with Joe and Elizabeth and telling them her life story.…

Hence, in my attitude, it is vital for the early childhood centers to investigate risk-taking procedures within their centers and ensuring to provide safe environment including the aspects of playground design. These designs not only support positive risk-taking but also reduce the inappropriate risky behaviour, and minimize educators’ response to the children’s risk-taking behaviour in their care. Moreover, I accept that the provision of a level of supervision enables educators to support children’s safety and also acknowledge that positive risk taking is an issue that needs to be addressed in policies relating to adult/child ratios. Therefore, as a future educator, I understand that it is vital for me to get to know every individual child and up-to-date about the curriculum and legislation policies. Hence, this will help me to support children to build on their existing knowledge, abilities and skills as children achieve increasing independence in caring for themselves and other’s…
