Family is the most important agent of socialization in all societies from infancy onward (Kendall, D. 2017). Our families are the reason we are who we are today, because they the ones who have taught us our values, beliefs, language, attitude, and norms (Kendall, D. 2017). Ideally people receive love, understanding, security, acceptance, intimacy, and companionship from their families because they are the primary source of emotional support. I feel most of our values we see in life are influenced by our family members and are passed down from generation to generation even after you get married. Typically, family is where we acquire our specific social position in society because from birth, we are a part of the specific racial, ethnic class, and religion of our family. However, growing up in my family we were always told to treat everybody the same no matter the race, ethnic group, and even religion because we are equally part of this world, the only difference that stands between us is our skin …show more content…
I have identified why family is considered to be the most important agent of socialization, what has caused the dramatic changes to the American family, differences in marriage and family life that are linked to class, race, gender and personal choice. I have also expressed how I feel about the trend toward traditional families and how I think it would affect women's rights. As Rosa Parks once said, "Each person must live their life as a model for
