Do you know what a vaccination is or have you ever gotten a vaccination? A vaccination is when you get a bacteria or virus put into your body by injection, also known as a shot. The reason is that in the future when you actually do get exposed to the virus or bacteria in your system, your body is ready to fight it off so you will not get sick, or have very minor symptoms. Being sick is one of the most unpleasant experiences in life, no one enjoys being sick. So, if you could avoid that struggle, why wouldn’t you? Getting these vaccinations prevent children from getting 300+ million diseases when they are little, and their immune systems aren’t prepared to handle the full onslaught of the disease without help. By strengthening their immune systems, vaccinations help prevent the spread of diseases. By shortening the lifespan of a disease inside someone’s body, the amount of time the disease has to spread is reduced, thus reducing the amount of people afflicted with the disease. This domino effect means that through vaccinations we are able to completely eradicate certain diseases from the general population. Thus saving countless lives. However, there are still those that oppose vaccinations based on speculation. Some criticism is good because it forces the medical field to constantly adapt and improve vaccinations. On the other hand when people don’t vaccinate themselves or their children, major problems can arise. By not vaccinating you are allowing dangerous diseases the opportunity to develop in yourself or your children. The risks of not vaccinating are concrete and have been supported by countless experiments and decades of research. Whereas the risks associated with vaccinating are more often than not just speculation. There are legitimate concerns with vaccinations such as the use of mercury in them, and that is something that should be improved. Even so, the benefits of vaccinations are far greater than the potential risks that they carry. Showing that, as a whole, vaccinations are a positive in the medical field and are beneficial for people
