Seattle – Tacoma International Airport: Strong Future Projections on a Stable Basis
Seattle – Tacoma International Airport, better known as Sea-Tac (KSEA), is the main
Air Gate and Hub Airport of Seattle Port Authority. Consisted by a great real-estate footprint, it is set to be one of the most massive aerospace facilities and service providing structures of the
Pacific North West Region of the United States.

Two different projects came as a result of the participation to the research effort. The first was the introduction to area navigation (RNAV) flight procedures, as a reaction-answer to the problem of improving the Airport’s capacity. The application of modern RNAV procedures brought Sea-Tac International right in the lead for NextGen implementations. NextGen is a portfolio of capabilities that improve the capacity, efficiency, safety, and environmental performance of the NAS4.
The second project was a mega-construction effort, improving the active runways, expanding their Available Landing Distance and modernizing the Main Terminal’s Services.
This project, initially, was run under the auspice of New Runways for NAS Modernization program. Federally applied, was quickly embraced by local vendors and construction firms, who found the occasion interesting for further expansions, applications and …show more content…
Airport Maps and Diagrams
Seattle – Tacoma International Airport Case Study and Analysis, exploited many details of the relations between the Decision Makers, the Communities, the Interest and Lobbying
Groups of the wider Seattle, Washington area. The vividness of their efforts could not be otherwise understood, if not referred upon and referenced comparing to maps, charts and graphs.
Case study analysis is, therefore, firmly based on detailed maps and figures. FAA’s
Airport Diagram is the primitive, only, understanding tool of the airport’s layout.
Property topography around the Sea-Tac Airport reveals the tight connections with the interests of nearby leaving communities. The sustainability plan applications refer to enhancing the life quality of a middle classed, high financial background, suburbs around the Airport’s perimeter. Twenty one percent (21%) of the 18,500 middle class jobs related to the Airport’s critical functions, are done by people living in the same perimeter of the Airport9.
