The young boy used to always get physically abused by his father and his mother would comfort him. I think this plays a huge card on what causes someone to change their sexual orientation to the same gender. This theory is called the cognitive- developmental theory, where 'gender identification, stability, and constancy' take place. This was in the early stages of his life where he wasn’t able to identify himself with the same sex parent since he was thought as a monster and found comfort in his feminine, docile mother. He used to idolize his mother for always being there to comfort him after.

All of these factors could initiate a change of events.To me, gender schema theory appears to be the most plausible theory among the above mentioned theories. Each theory has its own strength, but has also many faults that are overlooking important factors. However, it made me start thinking about how this explanation seems to overlook our inherent masculinity and feminine nature, like the our discussion for unit one: Fun with the Bem. Boys can be emotional and girly and girls can be manly like boys, I was able to read my classmates scores and some were more masculine females or neutral other opposite, but this doesn't mean that girly boys are gay or manly girls are lesbians. It is our society that gives us the strong bias and stereotypes that boys should be manly and insensitive and girls should be emotional, which repress us to express ourselves more
