This includes body language and facial expression. Social media omits both of these important skills. Making people insensitively ignorant because they do not have the skill to communicate verbally.
For example, I saw this mom in a park kept on attempting to talk to her daughter about a problem except the daughter was extremely engrossed on her phone. The mom had this expression like she just lost her job, a frustration look. A minute later, the mom started to tear up but the daughter simply left the mother alone. Obliviously not knowing on what was happening. If only she pay attention on what was happening, she would not left the mother alone, all by herself.
Instead of using body language and face expression to interact, people would just use emojis, an application where you can send symbols. Although many are convinced that it express expressions, it does not count as body language since it is exaggerated. Body languages are often subtle and can be misinterpreted easily. Body language is a riddle. They might show one thing but it basically means something else. The less someone practices these skills in regular conversation (verbally), the less information will be processed and understood
