As the French Revolution was inspired by the American Revolution, it is easy to determine that the two must have similarities. The first similarity between the two revolutions are their origins. Although both of the revolutions were fought because the countries wanted independence and freedom, what they were looking to do were not the same things. In order to achieve independence and preserve their rights, the American colonies decided to secede from Britain and form their own nation. The entire time that they were fighting, they were fighting to be on their own. France, on the other hand, wanted to change the country.
