Thesis: The Machu Picchu and Mesa Verde cliff dwellings were ancient civilizations that contained both differences and similarities, and they were highly important. Mostly because of their harvestation, supplies, skills, terrains, structures, and artifacts. The Machu Picchu cliff dwellings were different in several ways regarding farming, building, and other numerous things. According to Source Three, paragraph one, it states,“ Rain comes only in the spring, and then in torrents. Landslides, avalanches, and earthquakes are not common. Only 2 percent of the land is farmable.” This quote shows that not much of the land in the cliff dwellings were good for farming. According to the chart in part one, it states,” The terrain presented unique challenges.” This quote shows that the terrains that the Mesa Verde and Machu Picchu dwellings were on, caused some complications like the land not being farmable and having a difficult time building structures cause of the hilly grounds. This is important because both the Mesa Verde and the Machu Picchu dwellings did not have very easy terrains. According to the chart in part one, it states,” The people learned how to use a single plant as a source for food, clothing, tools, containers, and soap.” This quote shows that each society in the dwellings of both places had to use a plant in order to have supplies to do something. This is important because the people in the Mesa Verde dwellings used plants for clothing, soap, etc. and in the Machu Picchu dwellings they built tools to dig out canals.
