First, in the Most Dangerous Game, it says, “"It's a game, you see, I suggest to one of them that we go hunting. I give him a supply of food and an excellent hunting knife” (page 9). Zaroff was explaining the rules to Rainsford, saying that he gives the player a weapon and some food. Related to this, in the Hunger Games they set out a tent with a bunch of bags with different supplies and weapons for the players to get right after the start timer goes off. So in both games, they give them supplies. Second, it says, “I give him three hours' start” (MDG page 9). Rainsford got three hours to get a lead out into the forest, before his hunter came to search for him. A difference from that game to the Hunger Games is that in this game, right after the play time starts, you can do whatever you want. You don’t get a lead out if someone else decides to come after you right away. You can either run into the forest and try to be safe, or you can go get supplies and risk getting killed. Something that is very alike in the rules is, “If I find him, he loses” (MDG page 9). In the short story, if the enemy finds you, you’re dead. The Hunger Games has the same rule. If an enemy finds you, they are probably going to kill you, so that they can get closer to winning the game. So, needless to say, the rules in both the story and movie, are very much …show more content…
In the Most Dangerous Game it says, “Then he leaped far out into the sea… the general… stood regarding the blue-green expanse of water. He shrugged his shoulders. Then he sat down…” (page 15). Close to the end of the story, Rainsford overcame the game and jumped into the water, knowing that Zaroff probably wouldn’t see him, and he didn’t, so his plan worked. Zaroff then just moved on, thinking he won his game, once again. Towards the end of the movie the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta come to the middle of the field and try telling each other that they will let the other win. They were about to eat some poisonous berries, right when the announcement happened and they heard that they both had won. They overcame the game by leading on the people watching, making it very hard for them to watch either of them die. Much alike Katniss and Peeta winning the Hunger Games, in the Most Dangerous Game, Zaroff says, “"I congratulate you. You have won the game" (page 15). Rainsford showed up back at the house, after Zaroff thought he died and that he, himself had won the game. So he congratulated Rainsford. Lastly, at the very end of the short story it stated, “He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided” (page 15). Since Rainsford had won the game, he killed Zaroff, and then slept in his bed, and had never slept better. He had a feeling of achievement and he felt very good. Similar to this, at
