Martin Luther King is writing his letter from Birmingham Jail to the community and the religious leaders that have been racist. He wrote this letter in order to respond to the accusations he has been prosecuted by. These actions were justified because of his involvement in the state of Alabama by joining the movement of civil activists. Yet some felt offended that outsiders were coming they felt that it was not anyone’s fight, especially if you are not from the same city or state as them. It is the social transformation of a biological difference sex, into social differences. Gender creates roles that are appropriate behavior and roles for men and women. Gender is something that we do not have, but we are. It can change from culture to culture and even in individual attitudes over the course of a lifetime. Sex is a biological distinction based on the biological reproduction system. It’s determined by genetics, hormones, and controls the anatomical structure of our bodies. Unlike gender, sex does not change over time because it is not a social distinction. When we are first born, the doctor determines our sex based on the reproductive organs they see we do or don’t have. The Wal-Mart is the biggest private employer in the United States. Over one point five million of female workers suing the company over discrimination. The gap between men and women has continued since 1997. “Women made up roughly 72 percent of Wal-Mart’s hourly employees, yet only 34 percent of management.” Moreover, women got paid less than men, and had worse opportunities. The women, who worked even longer than men, got paid less. Only men got promotions, whereas there was no position to promote for women. What is more, they needed extra requirements to be promoted. Managers used their power to abuse women. The sexual abuse, representing the objectification of women at work they were treated as a sexual object, thing that has no feelings. Thus The Supreme Court decided that Wal-Mart was not guilty because all of the 1.5 million women were not suing them for the same reasons. In other words, there was no commonality clause and there were different abuses.
