The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) describes international tourism as a socio-cultural and economic phenomenon that involves foreigners travelling to different countries for either personal or professional purposes. The travel and tourism industry is the world’s largest and most diverse industry. Many nations rely on this dynamic industry as a primary source for generating revenues, employment, private sector growth, and infrastructure development. However, tourism can cause negative social, economic and environmental effects on the host country. The objective of this paper is to critically analyse impacts of different types of tourism by attempting to discuss how the host community, tourism organisations and international tourists are affected. For the traveller, it is a chance to view places unspoiled by the encroachment of civilization.
