There are two types of ways to measure social inequality such as inequality of condition or inequality of opportunities. Inequality of condition consists of unequal distribution of income, goods, and wealth. An example is housing situations. The homeless are living in housing projects sitting at the bottom of the hierarchy, while the wealthy families live in million dollar mansions and sit at the top of the hierarchy.
