Social institution shapes the choices I make on the daily basis because of my religion. Religion plays an important role in society, especially during my grandparents’ lifetime. I grew up in Catholicism and did all my holy sacraments but I always felt God can listen to you everywhere you go. I am not religious as my grandparents or anyone in my family per say but I do keep my faith. Social institution in the United Sates help me keep my faith in a different way which my grandparents didn’t have in Peru. They believe if someone doesn’t go to church they are sinners. Here in the United States is more liberal and it keeps people an option to have faith, not believe, or be neutral about religion. I feel more at ease knowing I have options for my faith. Unfortunately family correlates with religion and my family have a difficult time understanding my decisions because I don’t go to church. Family has a great influences on an individual. Family can help a person grow up to be negative or positive in life. My family means the world to me because we are a tight knitted community in our circle. We celebrate birthdays, holidays, take trips together and help one another in time of need. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do without my family.
