INTRODUCTION: A message from the author
December 3rd, 2017 marks my 19th year of being a vegan. Almost two decades ago, I was one of those people who swore that ice cream was my lifeline and I couldn’t live without it. I enjoyed barbeque carcuses of dead animals and sinking my teeth and tearing their flesh apart. Then one day, I realized that I was eating an animal that was once a living, breathing creature. Going vegan was a choice I made after watching copious videos on YouTube of inhumane slaughterhouses and vegan lifestyle vlogs. According to The Humane Society of the United States, over two billion chickens, cattle, pigs, sheeps, lambs, and turkey were killed for food in 2015 in the United States alone. Supporters of animal right believe that all animals, not just household pets and exotic creature, have an inherent value; we believe that all animals have a right to live free from pain and suffering. If you wouldn’t eat your dog, why eat a cow?
For the Ecosystem
One of the most effect ways to save the ecosystem is to go vegan! The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations predicts that by 2050 world meat and dairy production will doubled if the consumption of meat and dairy products continue to grow at its current rate. The production of meat and dairy products puts a huge burden on the ecosystem. The copious amount of grains needed to feed livestock has lead to deforestation in many parts of the world. This leads to global warming, air and water pollution, land degradation, and the extinction of species. Ingredients
6 oz. of coconut milk
2 tablespoons of maple syrup (or sweeten to taste)
½ teaspoon of almond extract
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of strong brewed coffee (room temperature)
Ice cubes
Instructions
In a medium sized bowl, mix together the coconut milk, maple syrup, almond extract, and vanilla extract.
Fill glass halfway with ice cubes and pour coffee into glass.
Pour coconut milk mixture over coffee and ice cubes.
Serve immediately.
If you don’t want to use coffee, try chai tea as an alternative!

Zesty Purple Acai Bowl
Prep time: 5 minutes
Servings: 1
Acai bowls are packed with vitamins and are a great summer treat!
Ingredients
100 grams of frozen acai berries
1 frozen banana
¼ cup of almond milk (or any non-dairy milk)
1 teaspoons of maple syrup
Fresh berries, coconut flakes, granola (or any toppings of your choice)
Instructions
Combine acai berries, banana, almond milk, and maple syrup in blender until smooth.
Pour into a bowl and top with berries, coconut flakes, and granola.
Serve
