Mollie O'Penshaw
Hi this is Dr. Mache Seibel and I am the host of, "The Hot Years." Before you read this interview, I want to mention something at the beginning. Some women, when they talk about menopause, they whine, other women, when they talk about menopause, they drink wine. Today, I have someone with me who has created her own business behind the thought of wine for menopause, Mollie O'Penshaw. Mollie O'Penshaw is a delightful woman and the founder of "Mood Swing Wine." Her approach unique to this concept of wine and woman in menopause.
Let's dive into the interview:
Mache Seibel: Mollie, nice to have you join me.

I think it's a very catchy name, particularly for women who are transitioning into, through, and beyond menopause. Tell me a bit about Mood Swing Wine.
Mollie O'Pensha: Well, it began when I had a girlfriend experiencing some horrible symptoms of menopause. I wasn't sure what was wrong. One day I went to her home and she was sobbing uncontrollably. I thought maybe it had something to do with her going back to school, going through a divorce, or her many life changes. I found out later, when we sat down and talked, that she thought she was going through menopause. She thought this because, at a very young age, her mother had experienced menopause, similar to hers with the tears and everything.
Before she could explain any further I said, "Hold that thought, we can talk about it in a minute. I'm going to run to the store and get a bottle of wine." When I arrived at the store to buy a bottle of wine, I struggled to find one that might put a smile on her face. I grabbed a bottle, kind of our go-to wine and went back to her home. We sat down, drank the bottle of wine, and talked about menopause. When I went home and reflected on what she was going through with menopause, which I haven't gone through yet and it kept me up at …show more content…
The more I thought about it, the more I researched it. I woke up in the middle of the night with great catchy names for my wine, what it should represent, and how women should approach menopause.
Mache Seibel: Well, it's very interesting. Tell me, what are some other things that you do with the wine and with menopause, that you encouraging women to do that you think may help and improve their mood?
Mollie O'Pensha: What's really exciting is the message that I have on the back of my bottle. That as women, we need to embrace life, take it on the chin, enjoy every moment that we're given. Even though we're going through menopause, and we don't like those black annoying chin hairs that we've gotta pluck. Or when we can't find our reader glasses, and later, they're on our head. We also forget things as soon as we set them down.
My message clearly has been to embrace life and it's giving me a platform to speak to women and to engage in women in humor, to laugh about it and of course, enjoy wine. It's given me a lot of speaking opportunities throughout the country. I'm also now the exclusive wine, and have been for a year, at Menopause The Musical in Las Vegas at Harrah's. That is a show that also pokes fun of menopause and gives women the reason to laugh about what they're going
