The people who follow Islam are Muslims, 1.5 billion people are Islamic followers, 22 per cent of the worlds population. Islamic religion started in 622 CE and was formed in the Arabian Peninsula.The religious leader Muhammad died in 632 AD but is still the main leader. Islams have two main sacred texts the most impotant text is the Quran, this book is conisdered the word of God and people believe that to only get the full experience is by reading the book in Arabic (even though translated copies are sold). The other main text is the Hadith, this text collects the great things that Muhammad did and his followers. Muslims worship in a place called a Mosque, they are expected to pray five times a day. A Mosque is used for other things as well such as Muslims getting together and discussing things and also for political uses. Muslims have many main festivals such as Muharram which is the new year for them, it celebrates the time from which Muhammad immigrated. They celebrate this day quite quitely by praying, reading and reflecting upon the year Muhammad immigrated. They also celebrate Muhammad's birthday which is known as Mawlid al-Nabi, they celebrate this by reflecting on Muhammad's life. They worship the one god Allah

Christianity has many leaders one of them are called Popes, but there is no supreme leader of Christianity. Christians worship in a place called a church, worship involves prayer, reaching God in music, reading the Bible and various other holy ceremonies. But anyone can worship God in there own way. The mian religious festivals are Easter which celebrates how Jesus gave his life to save our sins. And Christmas which celebrates the birth of Jesus.
