INTRODUCTION
2.BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
The building that we have chosen for our case study is the SOHO block that located at Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. The educational township of Nilai lacked urban mixed developments, and thus the idea of Starz Valley was conceived. Cognizant of the current economic trends and cost of living, Golden Plateau Sdn Bhd has …show more content…
The advantages of use concrete and blocks have:
Provide a good strength and thermal resistance to the wall and has a very long life span.
These materials are also cheap and easily available.
Some areas also consist of cavity walls to provide good water drainage. The blocks are then covered with cement and sand mixture which give a strong moisture-resistant rendering.
This type of insulation is subject to cracking due to high water shrinkage as Malaysia is a tropical country and there may be high rainfall during raining seasons.
This external wall is strong enough to withstand the inclement weather.
There have maintained the wall regularly to ensure that will not collapse and guarantee safety. Figure 3.1.1 concrete and block finish Figure 3.1.2 water drainage
Finally the external wall is coated with a primer and then painted white. As per requirements, this wall should be able to protect the interior from: moisture, water, hot temperature from sunlight and strong impacts. Figure 3.1.2 shows the final product of an external wall in the building

2) Internal walls should be made fireproof and fire doors should be implemented. Such walls have no windows and are made of non-combustible material such as concrete, cement block, brick or fire rated drywall and have wall penetrations sealed with special materials.
3) In order to remove cracking issues lime should be added to external wall cement and sand mixtures. They will thus have a lower drying shrinkage but will be more absorbent than only cement and sand mixes. Plastering with this mixture also provide extra protection against moisture.

RETAINING WALLS
For the retaining walls, it must be replaced by a new one. The contractor must make sure that steel bars are included and the right amount of concrete is used. To make it better, more weep hole could be included and an underground pipe could also be added to diminish the problem of water.
