The average deaths from stomach cancer in 2002 was 700,000. Stomach cancer occurs when cancerous cells begin to form in the inner lining of the stomach. The important thing to know about stomach cancer is that there are many ways it can be prevented. There are certain foods to avoid in order to prevent getting stomach cancer and certain foods to eat. Processed, cured, pickled and smoked foods have been known to cause stomach cancer. In general, a poor diet can increase the risk factors of stomach cancer. Eating a lot of fruit and vegetables is a great way to prevent stomach cancer. Eating these and other foods that have a great amount of protein and nutrients are all forms of prevention (Gale Stomach Cancer) because they are very healthy diet choices. It is crucial to decrease the risk factors of having stomach cancer by having a healthy diet.

The symptoms of stomach cancer can come very early before even a person is diagnosed. According to “World Of Health Stomach Cancer”, during the early stages of stomach cancer, the patient may only have mild discomfort, indigestion, heartburn a bloated feeling after eating, and mild nausea. In the later stage, some of these symptoms remain but new ones are experienced. Some of the later symptoms of stomach cancer are a loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach pain, difficulty in swallowing and vomiting (Gale Stomach Cancer). In “Gale Stomach Cancer” States that stomach cancer often spread to adjoining organs such as the esophagus, adjacent nodes, liver, or colon.
