One disadvantage was the North traveled and had to fight in a place that wasn 't their territory. They had fought in the South territory. While the South knew their surroundings and their area, North did not. They were fighting in a place they did not know much about. With North not fighting in their territory, and fighting in the South the North had a lot of traveling. This was a very long distance. They had to transport millions of troops and supplies with them.
